Lakeside Sunset in the springtime

  Southernmost section of Hokuriku Main Line to Tsuruga was once electrified at 20kV 60Hz a.c. in 1957, pioneering the history of Japanese a.c. electrification; but, gradually converted to 1.5kV d.c. for enabling suburban trains to enter into through service operation to Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe and beyond.
  Conversion to 1.5kV d.c. electrification between Maibara and Tsuruga was completed in September 2006.
  One fine evening in the springtime, this picture of series 223 suburban train was taken with Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, in the background.
